Corporate Signage

A consistent identity, from the building entrance to the meeting room.

Corporate signage brings building identification, interior branding and visitor information together. Technical Signs helps organisations turn brand guidelines into coordinated signs for offices, headquarters and multiple locations.

A corporate signage scheme with a clear purpose

Your signage should help people recognise the organisation and navigate the building with confidence. A coordinated scheme considers the whole journey: arrival at the site, finding the right entrance, checking in and reaching the correct floor or room.

Corporate signage projects often involve brand teams, facilities managers, designers and contractors. Bringing those requirements together early helps balance visual consistency with practical information, building constraints and future changes. See our Office & Infrastructure projects for the wider workplace context, or business signs for a broader range of commercial premises.

Connect exterior identity with the workplace interior

Building and site identification

Exterior lettering, entrance signs and totems help identify the organisation and distinguish visitor, staff and service entrances. Scale, contrast, viewing direction and illumination should suit the approach to each building.

Reception branding

Reception lettering and logo features establish identity at the point visitors arrive. Materials, lighting and fixing details need to work with the reception design, available wall space and the intended viewing distance.

Internal branding

Wall and glass vinyl graphics can introduce brand messages, privacy and visual continuity across meeting rooms and shared spaces. Graphics should support the environment while keeping important information readable.

Wayfinding, directories and room identification

A consistent hierarchy of directional signs, floor directories and door signs helps people locate their destination. Plan the naming system and routes before detailing individual signs, including how information will be updated when teams or room uses change.

Brand consistency across multiple locations

A corporate signage programme needs a common design language without assuming every building is identical. A standard specification can define logo proportions, typography, colour references, materials, illumination and typical mounting details.

Site surveys then identify the adaptations needed for each location, such as restricted fixing positions, landlord requirements or different approach distances. Recording approved exceptions helps keep the wider estate coherent while allowing each installation to work on its own building.

Our project management service can help coordinate design, manufacture and installation requirements. Read our guide to consistent signage across different buildings for planning considerations.

Specify the scheme before production

A useful brief includes brand artwork, building plans, room names, sign locations, relevant access requirements and the people responsible for approval. A sign schedule records the message, size, material, fixing and location of each item so the design and quotation refer to the same scope.

Review the customer and staff journeys alongside the visual design. Decide which signs must be permanent, which information needs to change and which finishes should be sampled. Any statutory signage requirements should be considered separately with the appropriate project advisers.

Once the scheme is approved, installation planning can address access, working hours, protection of occupied spaces and handover. Ongoing maintenance should also be considered when choosing construction and lighting details.

Corporate signage: common questions

How does corporate signage differ from individual business signs?

Corporate signage usually coordinates an organisation’s identity and information across several sign types, departments or locations. The emphasis is on a consistent system as well as the design of each sign.

Can you work with our designer or fit-out contractor?

Share the project team’s drawings, brand standards and programme at the outset. We can discuss how the signage scope fits the wider design and installation sequence.

Can a scheme be introduced in stages?

A phased approach can prioritise entrances and visitor information before other areas. Agree the full specification first so later phases remain consistent with the initial installation.

What happens when room names or occupants change?

Plan which messages are likely to change. Modular directories, replaceable panels or updated graphics may suit those locations, depending on the design and fixing requirements.
