A-Boards
So called because of the shape they make when viewed in side elevation, with a connecting horizontal strap, A-boards have been a retailers staple sign requirement since Victorian times, when they transitioned from the overhead sandwich boards worn either side of the body, to a more permanent display on pavements outside the owners’ premises. Today, the description covers a multitude of styles and designs, each designed to advertise a service, product or company to passing traffic, be that on foot or in a vehicle.
Restricted by size so as not to cause major disruption or to fowl local planning regulations, it’s important to choose a design that fits the image of your premises and operates in the best way for your needs.
The most basic is a black chalk board, usually with a pre-printed logo header either side, allowing you to write on special offers of the day – ideal for small restaurants, cafés and public houses, where the offers could change in very little time.
Others can be written with permanent messages or display products that are readily available during normal trading – coffee houses and hairdressing salons being examples.
More sophisticated displays can be digitally printed with full colour graphics, while poster holders can allow for a fast and efficient change of message – particularly useful for larger chains when wishing to advertise a specific promotion across all their branches.
Heavier versions can be fabricated to suit forecourts and car parks, to give great flexibility of display for whatever situation or target audience you wish to attract.
Technical Signs has a range of standard A-boards carried in stock, ready to be customised to your exact needs, or we will be happy to make bespoke items in a style and colour to match your brand. We back this up with supplies of printed consumables too, to offer a complete display solution that best suits your business.
A more recent innovation with a similar purpose is the introduction of Café Barriers that use high quality stainless steel posts and bases to support a lightweight fabric or more heavy duty PVC display banner. These can be single or double-sided, and are used regularly to delineate outdoor seating areas.
